Why we shouldn’t wear the same pajamas for two days in a row

The average man changes his pajamas every 13 nights, and women usually wait until 17 before throwing them in the washing machine. Most ladies have several pairs of pajamas and tend to forget how long it’s been since they were last washed. And while getting into bed with a used one seems harmless, it can have alarming consequences.

Great.guru was curious to know how the habit of sleeping in your unwashed pajamas for several days can affect you.

1.You sleep in an unhealthy environment

The pajamas rest on your skin. If you wear the same piece of fabric over and over again, bacteria and dead tissue cells can begin to build up on the clothes. And even if you wash your bedding regularly, it won’t stay fresh for long, because it will come into direct contact with unwashed sleepwear. Wearing the same pajamas night after night can cause hard-to-treat infections.

2.You can transfer the microbes to other garments

When you put your pajamas in the washing machine, bacteria can get into all the other sheets. If you’ve been wearing your sleepwear for 2 weeks in a row, the washing won’t be able to remove most of the germs and they will transfer to other clothes that come in contact with your skin.

3.It affects the quality of your sleep

Just as freshly washed sheets can give you a sense of relaxation, sleeping in clean bedding can make you feel refreshed. Getting into bed in sweaty pajamas can keep you awake at night, as it can make you itch.

4.It can make your allergies worse

If you are allergic to dust or have other respiratory disorders, sleeping in used pajamas can cause serious damage. Dust mites eat flakes of dead skin, so they’re attracted to your mattress and sleepwear, which can cause breathing problems. If you’re allergic to dust, it’s best to change your pajamas at least every other night.

5.It can give you acne

When you don’t change your sleeping clothes, bacteria and dead skin cells build up on the fabric. At night, it presses against the pores, blocking them and causing acne breakouts. When you sweat in your sleep, your pajamas absorb the sweat and cause pimples.

6.It smells bad

Your sleepwear absorbs sweat, creating a perfect microclimate for bacteria. They thrive in dark, damp places, creating unpleasant odors and disturbing your sleep.

7.Can weaken your immune system

When you wear the same pajamas night after night, your immune system is constantly fighting germs, respiratory complications and allergies. All of these factors can weaken your body’s defenses, making it difficult to protect you from viruses.

How often do you change your pajamas? What was the longest time you wore your sleepwear before you washed them? Tell us in the comments.
